Fuel level is low in the tank |
Fill the supply tank. Refer to the OEM service manual. |
Battery voltage is low |
Check the batteries and the unswitched battery supply circuit. Refer to Procedure 019-087 and the OEM service manual. |
Vehicle parasitics are excessive |
Check the vehicle brakes for dragging, transmission malfunction, cooling fan operation cycle time, and engine-driven units. Refer to the OEM service manual. |
Fuel grade is not correct for the application or the fuel quality is poor |
Operate the engine from a tank of high-quality fuel. Refer to the Fuel for Cummins Engines, Bulletin 3379001. |
Engine position sensor (EPS) damaged |
Check the EPS. Refer to Procedure 019-038. |
Keyswitch voltage intermittent |
Check keyswitch voltage when engine dies. If voltage does not measure 9 to 32 VDC, troubleshoot keyswitch circuit. Refer to Procedure 019-064. |
Battery voltage is low or bad ground connection at battery |
Check the batteries. Check the battery circuit. The battery cable ground must measure within OEM specifications for voltage drop under electrical load. Refer to Procedure 019-087. |
