Fault Code: 333

LAMP: Yellow
SRT: 00-606
No voltage detected on one or more injector supply pin (01, 03, 05, 11, 13, or 15) of the actuator harness when power is commanded. Speed derate to 1400 to 1600 rpm.

Circuit Description

The CELECT™ electronic control module (ECM) is a computer that is responsible for engine control, diagnostics, and user features.

Component Location

The ECM is bolted to the left side of the engine.

Shop Talk

Possible causes of this fault code could be damaged engine position sensor (EPS) coils/potting and an ECM internal failure.

Troubleshooting Steps

STEPS SPECIFICATIONS
STEP 1. Check external ECM components.
STEP 1A. Confirm fault code is still active. Fault Code 333 active
STEP 1B. Examine the EPS. EPS works correctly
STEP 2. Clear the fault codes.
STEP 2A. Disable the fault code. Fault Code 333 inactive
STEP 2B. Clear the inactive fault codes. All fault codes cleared


Guided Step 1 – Check external ECM components.

Guided Step 1A – Confirm fault code is still active.

Conditions

  • Connect all the components.

Action

  • Cycle the keyswitch from ON to OFF for five seconds, then back ON. Start the engine and idle for at least one minute.
OK NOT OK
Fault Code 333 active Fault Code 333 inactive

Guided Step 1B – Examine the EPS.

Conditions

  • Turn keyswitch OFF.
  • Disconnect the sensor harness connector from the EPS.
  • Remove the EPS using the EPS installation tool, Part Number 3822747.

Action

  • Examine the EPS for physical damage, cracked potting material, and incorrect seating in the engine.
OK NOT OK
EPS works correctly Replace the EPS

Guided Step 2 – Clear the fault codes.

Guided Step 2A – Disable the fault code.

Conditions

  • Connect all the components.

Action

  • Start the engine and let it idle for one minute.
  • Verify Fault Code 333 is inactive.
OK NOT OK
Fault Code 333 inactive Return to the troubleshooting steps or contact your nearest Cummins Authorized Repair Location if all the steps have been completed and checked again.

Guided Step 2B – Clear the inactive fault codes.

Conditions

  • Connect all the components

Action

  • Erase the inactive fault codes using INSITE™.
OK NOT OK
All fault codes cleared Troubleshoot any remaining active fault codes.
