Fault Code: 496 PID: S221 SPN: 1043 FMI: 11/11 LAMP: Yellow SRT: |
Incorrect voltage detected on the electronic control module (ECM) voltage supply line to the camshaft engine position sensor. |
Engine does not run, is hard to start, or will run derated. |
Sensor Supply Voltage Circuit
|
Circuit Description
The ECM supplies the camshaft engine position with positive (+) 5 VDC. If the supply line is damaged, the sensors will not work correctly.
Component Location
The camshaft engine position sensor is located on the intake side of the engine block on the cylinder head to the right of the ECM.
Shop Talk
Low voltage on the positive (+) 5-VDC supply line will be caused by a short circuit to ground in a supply line, a short circuit between a supply line or a return line, a failed sensor, or a failed ECM power supply.
