Barometric Pressure Sensor Circuit – Data Incorrect. An error in the barometric pressure sensor signal was detected by the ECM.

Engine will run derated.

Barometric Pressure Sensor Circuit
SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE

Circuit Description

The barometric pressure sensor is used by the electronic control module (ECM) to monitor the barometric pressure. This value is one of many inputs used by the ECM to determine the correct air/fuel ratio for proper engine operation.

Component Location

The barometric pressure sensor is mounted to the main branch of the engine harness near the ECM. Refer to Section E for a detailed component location view.

Shop Talk

At key-on, before the engine starts, the sensor readings for intake manifold pressure, exhaust gas pressure, and engine oil pressure are compared with the barometric pressure. This fault code occurs if the barometric pressure sensor reading is different from any two of the other three. This check is only done once after the keyswitch is turned on and before the engine is started. The engine oil temperature must also be at least 7°C [45°F] for this check to run.

Shop exhaust fans can cause this fault code to come active. Turn exhaust fans off when troubleshooting this fault code.
