CM870 and ISX Engines – 019-042   Engine Speed Sensor (ESS)

The engine speed sensor is located on the front gear housing of the engine.

Disconnect the engine wiring harness from the engine speed sensor.

Remove the engine speed sensor.

Inspect for Reuse

Inspect the engine speed sensor for debris or cracks.

If there is debris on the sensor, clean the sensor.

If the sensor is chipped, cracked or damaged, replace the sensor with a new one.

Install

 TOC

Install a new o-ring onto the engine speed sensor.

Install the sensor into the mounting hole.

Torque Value:  25  n.m  [18 ft-lb]

Connect the engine wiring harness to the sensor. Push the connectors together until they lock.
