B5.9G, B5.9LPG, B Gas Plus, B LPG Plus, and B Gas International Engines – 003-021   Crankcase Ventilation Filter

NOTE: At the Daily interval, perform the maintenance check only.

NOTE: At the 19,000 Kilometers [12,000 Miles], 500 Hours, or 6 Months interval, remove and replace filter.

Inspect the crankcase ventilation system for leaks or deterioration.

Check that the clamps (1) are secure.

Check the crankcase indicator. If the pressure is greater than 0.515 in Hg [7 in H₂O], go to the maintenance schedule for the Crankcase Ventilation Filter – Replace.

NOTE: Once the crankcase pressure reaches 0.515 in Hg [7 in H₂O], the bypass is fully open and crankcase gases are bypassing the crankcase ventilation system filter.

WARNING  To reduce the possibility of personal injury, avoid direct contact of hot oil with your skin.

WARNING  Some state and federal agencies have determined that used engine oil can be carcinogenic and cause reproductive toxicity. Avoid inhalation of vapors, ingestion, and prolonged contact with used engine oil. If not reused, dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Use the following procedure in the Operation and Maintenance Manual, B5.9G, B5.9LPG, B Gas Plus, B LPG Plus, and B Gas International Engines, Bulletin 3666112 for the crankcase ventilation filter service interval. Refer to Procedure 102-002 in Section 2.

Use the following procedure in Operation and Maintenance Manual, C8.3G, C Gas Plus, and L Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666183, for the crankcase ventilation filter service interval. Refer to Procedure 102-002 in Section 2

Release the clamps (1) on the closed-crankcase ventilation canister.

Pull the canister down to a point where the filter can be loosened.

Remove both the filter and canister from the closed-crankcase ventilation unit.

WARNING  Some state and federal agencies have determined that used engine oil can be carcinogenic and cause reproductive toxicity. Avoid inhalation of vapors, ingestion, and prolonged contact with used engine oil. If not reused, dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Discard any excess oil in the bottom of the canister.

Replace the filter and o-ring on the upper stem of the filter.

NOTE: Be sure that the old o-ring has not been jammed within the closed-crankcase ventilation head before installing.

Push the filter and canister back into position on the closed-crankcase ventilation unit.

Fasten the clamps (1).
