Vehicle is in gear |
Put the vehicle in neutral. |

Fuel door is open or other vehicle interlock systems are active |
Close the fuel door and check other interlock systems. Refer to the OEM service manual. |

Keyswitch circuit is malfunctioning |
Check the vehicle, equipment, or vessel keyswitch circuit. Refer to Procedure 019-064 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, Fuel Systems and Electronics, B5.9G, C8.3G, L10G-III, Bulletin 3666118. |

Starter solenoid is not receiving voltage |
Check the battery supply to the starter solenoid. Refer to Procedure 013-009. |

Starting circuit component is malfunctioning |
Check the starting circuit components. Refer to the OEM service manual. |

Starting motor pinion or ring gear is damaged |
Remove the starting motor, and inspect the gear. Refer to Procedure 013-020 and the manufacturer’s instructions. |

Starting motor is malfunctioning or starting motor is not correct |
Check the starting motor operation. Compare the starting motor with the engine and vehicle specifications. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions. |
