The engine position sensor used on the C8.3G Plus is a magnetic pickup sensor, not a hall effect. This sensor is located in the gear housing, above the air compressor.

If necessary, remove the air compressor. Refer to Procedure 012-014 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, C8.3G (Natural Gas) Engines, Bulletin 3666206.

Lift up on the tab and disconnect the connector from the sensor.

Use engine position sensor installation tool, Part Number 3822747, to turn the engine position sensor out of the gear cover.

Install

Install a new o-ring onto the engine position sensor.

Install the new engine position sensor into the mounting hole in the cylinder block.

Use the installation tool to tighten the engine position sensor.

Torque Value:  20  n.m  [177 in-lb]

Connect the sensor to the sensor harness. Push the connectors together until they lock.

If it was removed, install the air compressor. Refer to Procedure 012-014 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, C8.3G (Natural Gas) Engines.
