Thread inserts provide a very economical repair to damaged threads. We offer a wide variety of thread inserts. Special purpose (high strength and extra precision) inserts are available for the critical areas of main bearings, cylinder blocks, and crankshafts.
The repair saves your customer the expense of replacing major components such as a block or crankshaft while assuring him of a factory authorized repair procedure.
Many of the thread inserts are “blind end” inserts that can be used to repair damaged or cracked threaded holes, when the threaded area is exposed to oil or water pressure. The blind end ensures that liquids do not come in contact with the attaching capscrew, thus there is no chance of liquid leaking around the capscrew.
Our thread inserts are quick and easy to install. In simple terms, all it takes is to ream the damaged threads and tap the reamed hole to accept the thread insert. A wide variety of fixtures are available to insure location and alignment of the reamers and taps for the salvage operation. All thread repairs should be cleaned with a Primer-T then apply a sealant/lock to make sure that the insert will never come out when removing the capscrew(s).
A complete line of metric and SAE thread inserts are available in individual sizes as well as convenient kits of various appropriate sizes.
