This tool is used to rebuild/salvage the idler bore and face of the cylinder block. This tool provides the precise location and tools to bore out the worn or damaged idler bore and a new repair bushing/sleeve is installed so that the idler bore is back to original specifications in terms of size and location.
This tool and the proper repair bushing will salvage damaged bore or damaged bore and face. It is recommended to perform this operation out-of-frame.
This tool also has provisions to salvage the threads in the idler bore for the retaining capscrew.
NOTE: ST 257 Valve Seat Insert Tool is used in conjunction with this kit. This tool provides the driving mechanism to bore out the damaged bore. If you have ST 257, you can order 3825136 Idler Bore Salvage Kit. If you do not have ST 257, order 3824880 Idler Bore Salvage Kit. A standard ½ in. hand drill provides the power for this tool.
