TOC

 WARNING

When using solvents, acids, or alkaline materials for cleaning, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for use. Wear goggles and protective clothing to reduce the possibility of personal injury.
 WARNING

Some solvents are flammable and toxic. Read the manufacturer’s instructions before using.

NOTE: A convenient option is an alcohol prep pad that does
not contain any moisturizers or other cleaners. Compliant alcohol prep pads are available at many department stores, drug stores, and industrial supply centers.

B Gas Engines: Use rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth to clean the boot and coil wire.

L10G: Use rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth to clean the coil wire.

Resistance Check

TOC

Clean any dirt or grease from the inside of the boot.

Measure the resistance across the wire using a digital multimeter.

 CAUTION

Avoid contact with the boot to prevent contamination of the grease. Dirt can lead to shortened plug life.

NOTE: Do
not overapply the grease.

Apply a pea-sized amount of dielectric grease, Dupont® Krytox 205 – Cummins Part Number 3164956, to the inside of the boot. Spread it around the inner diameter to ease assembly on the plug.

NOTE: A new boot
must be installed when new spark plugs are installed or when a boot has been damaged during removal.

Firmly press on the boot until a snap is heard and felt as the boot seats on the spark plug. Install the coil terminal end.
