Drain the cooling system. Refer to Procedure

008-018-005.

If coolant dam pressure tester, Part No. AFT-2000, is used to draw a vacuum on the cooling system, it is

not
necessary to drain the cooling system.

 WARNING 

Coolant can be toxic. Dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Remove the retaining capscrew and washer.

Remove the coolant filter valve and the o-ring.

Inspect for Reuse

Clean the filter head and the coolant filter valve with a fiber brush and solvent.

Inspect the filter head and the coolant filter valve for cracks, pitting, corrosion, or other damage. Replace if damage is found.

Install

Install a new o-ring onto the coolant filter valve.

Lubricate the o-ring and valve with anti-seize lubricant, Part No. 3824397, and install the coolant filter valve into the filter head.

Install the retaining capscrew and washer.

Torque Value:  20  n.m  [15 ft-lb]

Turn the valve to the “ON” position.

The valve is in the “ON” position when the valve is in the vertical position.

Fill the engine with heavy duty coolant. Refer to Procedure

008-018-028. Start the engine and check for leaks.
