Visually inspect the radiator for plugged radiator fins.

Use 550 kPa [80 psi] air pressure to blow the dirt and debris from the fins. Blow the air in the

opposite
direction of the fan air flow.

Inspect the CAC and the clearance between the CAC and the radiator for trapped debris. Remove if necessary.

Remove any debris found.

Visually inspect the radiator for bent or broken fins.

NOTE: If the radiator

must
be replaced due to bent or broken fins which can cause the engine to overheat, refer to the manufacturer’s replacement procedures.

Visually inspect the radiator for core and gasket leaks.

 WARNING 

If a liquid refrigerant system must be removed before removing the radiator, wear eye and face protection. Wrap a cloth around the fittings before removing. Liquid refrigerant can cause serious eye and skin injury.

For environmental protection, federal law requires Freon be recycled and

not
vented into the atmosphere.
