Cause Correction

Electronic fault codes active or high counts of inactive fault codes

Refer to Section TF in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual CELECT™ Plus Systems, Bulletin 3666130, or Section TF in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual for CELECT™ Systems, Bulletin 3666084.

 

Fuel level is low in the tank

Fill the supply tank. Refer to the OEM vehicle specifications.

 

Engine idle speed is set too low (mechanical fuel systems)

Adjust the fuel pump idle speed. Refer to Procedure 005-029.

 

Idle shutdown or PTO shutdown features are activated

Turn OFF the keyswitch for 5 seconds. Turn ON the keyswitch and check fault lamp operation.

 

Air in the fuel system

Check for air in the fuel system. Refer to Procedure 006-003.

 

Engine-driven units are engaged

Disengage engine-driven units.

 

Fuel is waxing due to cold weather

Check the fuel heater, if installed. Weather conditions sometimes require a fuel heater.

 

Fuel inlet restriction

Check for fuel inlet restriction. Refer to Procedure 006-020.

 

Fuel shutoff valve (FSOV) is closed

Check the fuel shutoff valve and the electrical circuit. Refer to Procedure 019-050 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual CELECT™ Plus Systems, Bulletin 3666130, or Section TF in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual for CELECT™ Systems, Bulletin 3666084.

 

Exhaust system restriction

Check the exhaust system for any restrictions. Refer to Procedure 011-009.

 

Air intake system restriction

Check the air intake system for restriction. Refer to Procedure 010-031.

 

Fuel grade is not correct for the application or the fuel quality is poor

Operate the engine from a tank of high-quality fuel. Refer to Fuel for Cummins Engines, Bulletin 3379001.

 

Fuel pump is malfunctioning

Check the fuel pump output pressure with INSITE™, an electronic service tool. Replace the fuel pump if necessary. Refer to Procedure 005-016.

 

Engine brake adjustment is not correct

Adjust the engine brakes. Refer to Procedure 020-001.

 

Injector cup spray holes are plugged

Remove and clean the injectors. Refer to Procedure 006-026.

 

Static injection timing is not correct

Check the static injection timing. Refer to Procedure 006-025.
