M11 Plus Series Engines Operation and Maintenance Manual – Engine Will Not Crank or Cranks Slowly (Electric Starter)

Symptom Tree  

Engine-driven units are engaged

Disengage engine-driven units.
 

Battery cables are not the correct gauge or length

Replace the battery cables with larger gauge or shorter length cables. Refer to the OEM service manual.
 

Battery charge is low

Check battery. If the battery is low, check the alternator for proper charging. Charge the battery, and replace if necessary. Refer to the OEM service manual.
 

Battery capacity is below specification

Refer to the OEM service manual. Replace the batteries if necessary.
 

Lubricating oil does not meet specifications for operating conditions

Change the oil and filters. Refer to Procedure 007-013 (Lubricating Oil Filters (Spin-on) in Section 4. Use the oil recommended in Section V.

 

Lubricating oil temperature too low

Operate engine until oil is at operating temperature.
 

Battery temperature is below specification

Check the battery heater (if equipped) for correct operation. Refer to the OEM service manual.
