M11 Plus Series Engines Operation and Maintenance Manual – Engine Will Not Shut Off

Symptom Tree  

Fuel shutoff valve (FSOV) is stuck open

Verify that the solenoid or coil is not being energized by a short in the wiring.

 

Keyswitch circuit is malfunctioning

Check the vehicle, equipment, or vessel keyswitch circuit. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.

 

Engine is running on fumes drawn into the air intake

Check the air intake ducts. Locate and isolate the source of the fumes. Repair as necessary. Refer to a Cummins Authorized Repair Location.

 

Fuel tank vents are plugged or damaged

Remove and clean the tank vents. Replace the vents if necessary. Refer to the OEM service manual.

 

Fuel drain line restriction

Check or replace the fuel lines, check valves, or tank vents as needed. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
