Leak Test

TOC

Natural Gas

Combustible Gas Detector, Part Number 3823984

 WARNING

Do not troubleshoot leaks while the engine is running. Checking for leaks while the engine is running can cause explosions, fires, and personal injury if a gas leak occurs.
 WARNING

If natural gas leaks are present, do not store the vehicle inside or in any area that is covered. Severe personal injury can result from asphyxiation or explosion.

NOTE: It is best to check above the connector rather than below because joint compounds, which will also set off the detector, are heaver than air (will sink) and natural gas is lighter than air (will rise).

A gas leak before the air/fuel mixer will cause low power.

Use a combustible gas detector, Part Number 3823984, or soap solution to check the gas jumper hose connections for leaks.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas

Combustible Gas Detector, Part Number 3823984

 WARNING

Do not troubleshoot leaks while the engine is running. Checking for leaks while the engine is running can cause explosions, fires, and personal injury if a gas leak occurs.
 WARNING

If natural gas leaks are present, do not store the vehicle inside or in any area that is covered. Severe personal injury can result from asphyxiation or explosion.

NOTE: Unlike natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas is heavier than air and will sink to the ground. It is best to check below the connector. Another sign of fuel leakage is frosting around the connection.

A gas leak before the air/fuel mixer will cause low power.

Use a combustible gas detector, Part Number 3823984, or soap solution to check the gas jumper hose connections for leaks.
