Gauges and sensors are used in the system to measure the coolant temperature. These can malfunction and provide an incorrect temperature indication.

The coolant temperature sensor used by the engine control system is discussed in Procedure
019-019 of the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, ISB Fuel System, ISB Engine, Bulletin No.
3666194.

Maintenance Check

Check for blown fuse.

Check for wiring from the gauge to the sending unit for a broken connection.

Use a temperature gauge of known accuracy to check the existing gauge.

Replace a faulty gauge.
