Preparatory Steps

  • Remove the air intake piping from the turbocharger. Refer to the OEM troubleshooting and repair manual.

Remove the three mounting capscrews from the EGR valve.

Remove the heat shield.

Remove the four EGR valve heat shield mounting capscrews from the EGR valve.

Remove the heat shield.

Clean and Inspect for Reuse

 WARNING 

When using solvents, acids, or alkaline materials for cleaning, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for use. Wear goggles and protective clothing to reduce the possibility of personal injury.
 WARNING 

Wear appropriate eye and face protection when using compressed air. Flying debris and dirt can cause personal injury.

Clean the heat shield with solvent.

Dry with compressed air.

Inspect the heat shield for cracks or any other damage.

Replace the heat shield, if cracks or any other damage is found.

Install

Apply high temperature anti-seize compound onto the mounting capscrews.

Install the three mounting capscrews and the heat shield.

Torque Value:  23  n.m  [17 ft-lb]

Apply high temperature anti-seize compound onto the mounting capscrews.

Install the four capscrews and the heat shield.

Torque Value:  23  n.m  [17 ft-lb]
