Electronic Control System Signature, ISX and QSX15 Engines – 019-038   Engine Position Sensor (EPS)

Using the fault codes, determine which sensor is to be replaced.

The crankshaft engine speed sensor is located on the front cover of the engine.

The camshaft engine speed sensor is located on the intake side of the cylinder head, to the right of the ECM.

Disconnect the sensor from the engine harness.

Remove the engine position sensor from the cylinder block.

Inspect the engine position sensor for debris, cracked or chipped potting, extruded potting, and damage from contact with the cam gear.

If there is debris on the engine position sensor, clean the sensor.

If the sensor is chipped, cracked, extruded, or damaged, replace the sensor with a new one.

Install a new o-ring onto the engine position sensor.

Install the new sensor into the mounting hole.

Connect the sensor to the engine harness. Push the connectors together until they lock.
