Low Fuel Pressure
|
Overview
CODE | REASON | EFFECT |
Fault Code: 482 PID: P094 SPN: 94 FMI: 1/18 LAMP: Yellow SRT: |
Low fuel supply pressure was detected at the fuel pressure sensor. |
Engine does not start, has low power, can possibly have white smoke, or runs rough. |
Fuel System Circuit
|
Circuit Description
The gear pump draws fuel from the fuel tank through the fuel filter and antidrainback valve. The gear pump develops up to 2206 kPa [320 psi] of fuel pressure. The fuel flows through the fuel filter screen and fuel shutoff valve to the fueling and timing actuators and the fuel pressure sensor.
Component Location
The 1724 kPa [250 psi] regulator controls the fuel pressure. All components are located on the fuel delivery housing on the intake side of the engine.
Shop Talk
The fuel pressure is monitored by the Electronic Control Module (ECM). If the fuel pressure is outside an acceptable range, the fault code is activated. The acceptable range of fuel pressure can be viewed as Fuel Pressure Lower Limit and Fuel Pressure Upper Limit in the INSITE™ electronic service tool monitor screen. The fault will log quickly for large differences in pressure and slowly for small differences in pressure.
