Electronic Control System ISM and QSM11 Engines – Engine Will Not Shut Off

Cause Correction

Keyswitch circuit is malfunctioning

Check the vehicle, equipment, or vessel keyswitch circuit. Refer to Procedure 019-064.
 

Fuel shutoff valve solenoid or circuit is malfunctioning (electronic controlled fuel systems)

Check the fuel shutoff valve solenoid and circuit. Refer to Procedures 019-049 and 019-050.
 

Engine is running on fumes drawn into the air intake

Check the air intake ducts. Locate and isolate the source of the fumes. Repair as necessary. Refer to the OEM service manual.
 

Turbocharger oil seal is leaking

Check the turbocharger compressor and turbine seals. Refer to Procedure 010-033 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, ISM, ISMe, and QSM11 Series Engines, Bulletin 3666322.
