Remove all belts from the engine.

Cover the following:

  • exhaust and intake openings
  • electrical components
  • fuel inlet and drain connections
  • any exposed fittings, thread and electrical wire terminals.

 WARNING 

When using a steam cleaner, wear protective clothing and safety glasses or a face shield. Hot steam will cause serious personal injury.

Use steam to clean the engine. Dry with compressed air.

NOTE: Make sure all engine surfaces are clean and dry before painting the engine.

Cover the following:

  • all dataplates
  • valve and injector set marks
  • exhaust manifold
  • turbocharger turbine housing
  • flywheel
  • flywheel housing transmission mounting surface.

Paint the engine.
