Circuit Description
The starter lockout feature, when enabled, will prevent the starter motor from engaging when the engine is already running. This is intended to increase starter motor life. This feature can be enabled with the INSITE™ electronic service tool.
Component Location
The starter lockout relay is supplied by the OEM. It is probably near the starter motor relay.
Shop Talk
The starter lockout signal indicates that the engine is running. It is used to energize a relay that disconnects start voltage to the existing OEM starter relay, preventing the inadvertent engine cranking that could reduce starter motor life. This signal is used by the starter lockout feature when enabled.
