Possible power derate or no effect. |
![]() Fuel Rail Pressure Circuit
|
Circuit Description
This fault indicates that more fuel is commanded to maintain the fuel pressure in the fuel rail. The electronic fuel control actuator controls how much fuel is delivered to the high-pressure pump. The electronic control module (ECM) supplies an electronic current to the fuel control actuator. The electronic fuel control actuator is normally open and is only closed when current is supplied. The high-pressure fuel is accumulated in the fuel rail. The fuel rail pressure sensor measures the fuel pressure and sends a signal to the ECM.
Component Location
The fuel system is located on the intake side of the engine.
Shop Talk
Inspect the electronic fuel control actuator and rail pressure sensor for tampering. High resistance in the rail pressure sensor circuit can cause the fault.
