Circuit Description
The oil pressure/temperature sensor is used by the ECM to monitor the lubricating oil pressure and temperature. The ECM monitors the voltage on the signal pins and converts this to pressure and temperature values.
Component Location
The oil pressure/temperature sensor is located on the engine block, below the exhaust manifold, near the oil filter housing.
Shop Talk
- If Fault Codes 143 or 415 is not present, the problem is not related to the engine lubrication system.
- INSITE™ can be used to monitor the oil pressure/temperature signal voltage going into the ECM.
- Confirm that the correct oil pressure/temperature sensor part number is being used.
- If Fault Codes 238 and 141 are active, begin troubleshooting Fault Code 238 first.
