J1939 BACKBONE RESISTANCE
Positive (+) wire to return wire: 50 to 70 Ohms
J1939 termination resistance: 110 to 130 Ohms
5-VDC POWER SUPPLY (@ engine harness)
4.50 to 5.25 VDC
ALL CONTINUITY CHECKS
OK (no open circuit) if < 10 Ohms
ALL SHORTS TO GROUND
EPS/VSS circuits: OK (no short circuit) if > 10M Ohms
All other circuits: OK (no short circuit) if > 100k Ohms
SHORT CIRCUIT TO EXTERNAL VOLTAGE
OK if < 1.5 VDC

    ENGINE POSITION SENSOR

  • Coil resistance = 1000 to 2000 Ohms

    VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR

  • First coil resistance: 750 to 1500 Ohms
  • Second coil resistance: 1100 to 1500 Ohms

    FUEL CONTROL VALVE

  • Coil resistance = 2 to 5 Ohms

    FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE

  • Coil resistance = 12 to 20 Ohms

    WASTEGATE CONTROL VALVE

  • Coil resistance = 2 to 6 Ohms

    ACCELERATOR (Resistance for Closed/Open States)

  • ISS – maximum closed-circuit resistance < 125 Ohms
  • ISS – minimum open-circuit resistance > 100k Ohms

    ACCELERATOR AND REMOTE ACCELERATOR

  • Resistance between supply and return wires: 2000 to 3000 Ohms
  • Resistance between supply and signal wires (pedal released): 1500 to 3000 Ohms
  • Resistance between supply and signal wires (pedal depressed): 200 to 1500 Ohms

NOTE: Released resistance minus depressed resistance must be > 1000 Ohms.
