Circuit Description
The coolant pressure sensor is used by the electronic control module (ECM) to monitor the coolant pressure. The ECM monitors the voltage on the signal pin and converts this to a pressure value. The coolant pressure value is used by the ECM for engine protection.
Component Location
The coolant pressure sensor is located on the engine block, below the water outlet location.
Shop Talk
The engine protection shutdown for coolant is a customer feature and will only be enabled at the customer’s request. This feature will deactivate or disable the fuel control valve if this feature is utilized by the OEM.
Cautions and Warnings
WARNING ![]() Do not remove the pressure cap from hot engine. Wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F] before removing the pressure cap. Heated coolant spray or steam can cause personal injury.
