Circuit Description
The ECM controls the variable geometry actuator position with the turbocharger control valve. The turbocharger control valve controls the air pressure to the variable geometry actuator when commanded by the ECM. ECM commands are sent to the turbocharger control valve through the turbocharger control valve signal of the ECM engine harness. The turbocharger control valve is grounded to the engine block through the turbocharger control valve return wire, not back to the ECM. The turbocharger control valve, Centinel™ oil control valve, and turbocharger control shutoff valve share the same return wire in the engine harness.
Component Location
The turbocharger control valve is mounted on top of the alternator/refrigerant compressor mounting bracket. Refer to Section E for a detailed component location view.
Shop Talk
Turbocharger Control Valve Command can be monitored with the INSITE™ electronic service tool. This parameter represents the ECM command to the turbocharger control valve which in turn controls the variable geometry actuator position.
Possible causes for this fault code include:
- Signal circuit short circuit to ground in the engine harness, connectors, or turbocharger control valve.
