Circuit Description
The ECM controls the engine brakes on cylinders Number 2 and 3 by sending a signal on engine brake signal Number 2 circuit. The ECM will only command the brakes on under certain operating conditions.
Component Location
The engine brake solenoids are located under the valve cover. The 8-pin engine brake connector is located on the intake side of the cylinder head above and forward of the air inlet horn.
Shop Talk
Possible causes for this fault include:
- Short circuit to ground in the engine harness, connectors, or engine brake solenoids
- Failed ECM.
