Intake Manifold Pressure – data incorrect. The ECM has detected an intake manifold pressure signal that is too high or low for current engine operating conditions. |
Engine power derate. |
![]() Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor Circuit
|
Circuit Description
The intake manifold pressure sensor monitors intake manifold pressure and passes information to the ECM through the engine harness. If the intake manifold pressure becomes too low or high, it will cause a derate condition.
Component Location
The intake manifold pressure sensor is located in the air intake horn. Refer to Section E for a detailed component location view.
Shop Talk
The intake manifold pressure sensor monitors pressure in the intake manifold. This fault is set active when the intake manifold pressure is too high or low for the current engine operating conditions. The ECM compares the intake manifold pressure reading to turbocharger speed to determine if the pressure reading is valid.
Possible causes of this fault are:
- Failed intake manifold pressure sensor
- Failed barometric pressure sensor
- Leaks in the air intake system between the turbocharger and intake manifold
- Restriction in the charge air cooler
- Failed turbocharger speed sensor.
