Mechanical Gas Fuel System G5.9, G8.3 – 019-105   Ignition Control Module

Preparatory Steps

 WARNING 

Batteries can emit explosive gases. To reduce the possibility of personal injury, always ventilate the compartment before servicing the batteries. To reduce the possibility of arcing, remove the negative (-) battery cable first and attach the negative (-) battery cable last.
  • Disconnect the battery cables and connections. Refer to the OEM service manual.
  • Disconnect the air/fuel supply to the air starter, if equipped. Reference Procedure 012-022 in Section 12 of the service manual of the engine being serviced.

Remove

Disconnect the two ignition control module connectors.

Remove the four ignition control module mounting capscrews.

Remove the ignition control module.

Install

Be sure the bracket surfaces around the bottom two control module mounting holes (1) are bare metal and free from paint, debris, and corrosion.

Position the ignition control module onto the bracket and align the holes.

Install the four mounting capscrews and tighten.

Torque Value:  24  n.m  [212 in-lb]

Connect the two ignition control module connectors.

Finishing Steps

  • Connect the battery cables and connections. Refer to the OEM service manual.
  • Operate the engine and check for proper operation.
