Injector Metering Rail 2 Pressure – Data Valid but Above Normal Operating Range – Moderately Severe Level. Unexpected high fueling detected on the rear bank. |
Engine will return to idle speed. The engine can be shut down using the keyswitch. |
![]() ISX – Rear Fueling Actuator Circuit
|
Circuit Description
The electronic control module (ECM) supplies voltage to open the rear fueling actuator for a short length of time. This allows a short pulse of fuel to flow to the injector. The injector then injects the fuel into the cylinder for combustion.
Component Location
The rear fueling actuator is located on the fuel control housing. It is the first actuator from the rear of the engine. The fuel control housing is located on the intake side of the engine, below the exhaust gas mixer. Refer to Procedure 100-002 in Section E for a detailed component location view.
Conditions for Running the Diagnostics
This diagnostic runs continuously when the keyswitch is in the ON position and the engine is running.
Conditions for Setting the Fault Codes
The ECM estimates the amount of fuel injected into the front and rear banks of the engine by analyzing the acceleration of the crankshaft. This fault is set active when the estimated fueling on the rear bank is higher than expected.
Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active
- The ECM illuminates the red STOP ENGINE light immediately when the diagnostic runs and fails.
- The engine speed will drop to idle.
Conditions for Clearing the Fault Code
The ECM will turn off the red STOP ENGINE light immediately after the diagnostic runs and passes.

Verify the electronic control module (ECM) calibration is correct. Check the calibration revision history found on QuickServe™ Online for applicable fixes to the calibration stored in the ECM. If necessary, calibrate the ECM. Refer to Procedure 019-032 in Section 19.
