1999 GM 6.5L V8 – Accessory Brackets Replacement (Left Side) – Installation Procedure

1. Install the accessory bracket to the engine block.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the accessory bracket bolts to the cylinder head.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N-m (37 Ib ft).

3. Install the power steering pump to the accessory bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (6.5L) in Power Steering.

4. Install the thermostat housing crossover to the cylinder heads. Refer to Thermostat Housing Crossover Replacement in Engine Cooling.

5. Install the inlet heater hose to the thermostat housing.

6. Install the upper radiator hose and clamp to the thermostat housing and the radiator.

7. Install the A/C compressor the accessory bracket.

8. Install the idler pulley and the bracket assembly (if vehicle is not equipped with A/C) to the left accessory bracket. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement.

9. Install the auxiliary generator (if equipped) to the left accessory bracket. Refer to Generator
Replacement – Auxiliary in Engine Electrical.
Install the engine cooling fan to the water pump.
Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (5.0L, 5.7L and 6.5L) in Engine Cooling.

10. Install the drive belt on the drive pulleys. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (6.5L Drive Belt).

11. Install the fan shroud on the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement (Upper) in Engine Cooling.

12. Connect both the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to Battery Cable in Engine Electrical.
