1. Position the engine upside down.
2. Mark the main bearing caps so that they can be refitted in the same position.
3. Remove the bearing caps with the bearing shells.
4. Remove all thrust washers.
5. Lift the crankshaft out of the engine.
6. Remove the upper bearing shells.
