019-341   Diagnostic Shorting Plug Circuit

Resistance Check

 CAUTION 

To reduce the possibility of connector damage, do not use probes or leads other than Part Number 3822758. The leads must fit tightly in the connector without expanding the pins in the connector.

Turn keyswitch OFF.

Disconnect the OEM harness connector from the ECM.

Disconnect the OEM harness connector from the diagnostic plug 2-pin connector.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE


Measure the resistance from pin 21 of the engine harness sensor connector and pin A of the OEM 2-pin connector. There

must be a closed circuit (10 ohms or less).

If the circuit is

not closed, repair or replace the engine harness. Refer to Procedure

019-043.

Connect all components when the repair is complete.

Check for Short Circuit to Ground

Turn keyswitch OFF.

Disconnect the OEM harness connector from the ECM.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Measure the resistance from pin A of the 2-pin connector to the engine block ground. There

must be an open circuit (100k ohms or more).

If there is

not an open circuit, repair or replace the OEM harness. Refer to the OEM Troubleshooting and Repair Manual.

Check for Short Circuit from Pin to Pin

Disconnect the OEM harness connector from the ECM.

Measure the resistance between pin A of the 2-pin connector and pin B of the 2-pin connector. There

must be an open circuit (100k ohms or more).

If there is

not an open circuit, repair or replace the OEM harness. Refer to the OEM troubleshooting and repair manual.
