Intake Manifold Air Temperature Sensor – Engine Protection
|
Overview
CODE | REASON | EFFECT |
Fault Code: 155 PID: P105 SPN: 105 FMI: 0 LAMP: Engine Protection or Yellow* SRT: None |
Voltage at the intake manifold air temperature sensor signal pin 25 of the sensor harness connector indicates the intake manifold air temperature above 84°C [183°F]. | Progressive power and speed derate with increasing time after alert. If Engine Protection Shutdown is enabled, the engine will shut down 30 seconds after the engine protection lamp or the Red lamp* starts flashing. |
Intake Manifold Air Temperature Sensor Circuit |
Circuit Description
The intake manifold air temperature sensor is used by the electronic control module (ECM) to monitor the temperature of the engine intake air. The intake air temperature is used by the ECM for the engine protection system, and the timing and fueling control.
Component Location
- M11 – The intake manifold air temperature sensor is located on the top rear of the intake manifold next to the intake manifold pressure sensor.
- N14 – The intake manifold air temperature sensor is located on the side of the intake manifold just above the ECM.
Shop Talk
- Make sure the engine compartment temperature does not
get too high, above 93.3°C [200°F].
*Applies to 98N14 and 98M11 calibrations only.
