Preparatory Steps

 WARNING 

Do not remove the pressure cap from a hot engine. Wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F] before removing the pressure cap. Heated coolant spray or steam can cause personal injury.
 WARNING 

Coolant is toxic. Keep away from children and pets. If not reused, dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Drain the coolant. Refer to Procedure 008-018.

Remove plug in water header plate.

Remove the clip with the tube brace between the clip and the engine.

Remove thet capscrew and washer.

Remove the gasket.

Remove one end of the turbocharger water supply line from the turbocharger and from the water header plate connector.

Remove one end of turbocharger water discharge line from the turbocharger and the other end from the end of the radiator top tank.

Remove the oil supply line.

Drain oil from the turbocharger oil supply fitting.

Remove the turbocharger oil drain line and gasket from bottom of turbocharger.

Remove the male connector from the water header plate.

Remove the male connector from the turbocharger water inlet port.

Remove the male connector from the turbocharger water outlet port.

Clean and Inspect for Reuse

 WARNING 

When using solvents, acids, or alkaline materials for cleaning, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for use. Wear goggles and protective clothing to reduce the possibility of personal injury.
 WARNING 

Some solvents are flammable and toxic. Read the manufacturer’s instructions before using.
 WARNING 

Wear appropriate eye and face protection when using compressed air. Flying debris and dirt can cause personal injury.

Clean the turbocharger coolant lines with solvent.

Dry with compressed air.

Check the o-rings for cuts or deformation. Replace as necessary.

Check the turbocharger coolant lines for cracks or other damage. Replace if damage if found.

Check the face of the coolant fittings on the engine and on the turbocharger to make sure the o-ring is in place and is not damaged. A damaged or missing o-ring will result in a coolant leak.

Install

Install the male connector in the water header plate.

Install the male connector in the turbocharger water inlet port.

Install the male connector to the turbocharger water outlet port.

Tighten the male connectors.

Torque Value:  54  n.m  [40 ft-lb]

Install turbocharger oil drain line and gasket to bottom of turbocharger.

Torque Value:  27  n.m  [20 ft-lb]

Install one end of the turbocharger water discharge line to the turbocharger and the other end to the end of the radiator top tank.

Torque Value:  34  n.m  [25 ft-lb]

Install one end of the turbocharger water supply line to the turbocharger and the other end to the water header plate connector.

Torque Value:  34  n.m  [25 ft-lb]

Pour 50 to 60 cc [2.0 to 3.0 ounces] of clean engine oil in the turbocharger oil supply fitting.

Install the clip with the tube brace between the clip and the engine.

Install the capscrew and washer.

Torque Value:  25  n.m  [18 ft-lb]

Finishing Steps
