B5.9G, B5.9LPG – Troubleshooting and Repair Manual – 007-003   Lubricating Oil Cooler

WARNING  Coolant is toxic. Keep away from children and pets. If not reused, dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations.

WARNING  Some state and federal agencies have determined that used engine oil can be carcinogenic and cause reproductive toxicity. Avoid inhalation of vapors, ingestion, and prolonged contact with used engine oil. If not reused, dispose of in accordance with local environmental regulations.

WARNING  Do not remove the pressure cap from a hot engine. Wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C [120°F] before removing the pressure cap. Heated coolant spray or steam can cause personal injury.

Drain the coolant. Refer to Procedure 008-018.

Clean around the lubricating oil cooler cover.

Oil Filter Wrench, Part Number 3397929

Remove the lubricating oil filter. Refer to Procedure 007-013.

Disconnect the turbocharger supply line.

Remove the lubricating oil cooler cover, gaskets, and cooler element.

Clean the sealing surfaces.

Leak Test Kit, Part Number 3823876

Pressure-test the element to check for leaks. If leaks are detected, replace the element.

Assemble the lubricating oil cooler gaskets, element, and cover.

NOTE: Be sure to remove the shipping plugs from the element.

Connect the turbocharger lubricating oil supply line.

Fill the filter with clean gas engine lubricating oil, and apply a light coat of oil to the sealing gasket. Refer to Section 7, Lubricating Oil System, General Information, for lubricating oil recommendation.

Install the lubricating oil filter. Refer to Procedure 007-013.

Fill the coolant and lubricating oil system, and operate the engine to check for leaks. Refer to Procedures 007-025 and 008-018.

Stop the engine, and check the coolant and lubricating oil level.
