Preparatory Steps

Remove

Remove the external oil supply hose from the engine brake spacer.

Disconnect the electrical connectors in the engine brake spacer.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Disconnect the internal oil supply to the engine brake.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Remove the 18 spacer capscrews.

Clean and Inspect for Reuse

 WARNING 

Wear safety glasses or a face shield, as well as protective clothing, to prevent personal injury when using a steam cleaner or high-pressure water.
 WARNING 

Wear appropriate eye and face protection when using compressed air. Flying debris and dirt can cause personal injury.

Remove any RTV sealant and steam clean and dry with compressed air.

Inspect the spacer for cracks or other damage. Replace if necessary.

Install

TOC

Apply a 3.0 mm [0.118 in] bead of RTV sealant to the engine brake sealing surface.

  • Make sure the sealing surface is free of oil film
  • The sealant must loop around the capscrew holes on the back side (fuel pump side) of the spacer.

Install the spacer on the rocker lever housing.

Install the 18 capscrews in the housing.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Tighten the capscrews in the sequence shown.

Torque Value:  20  n.m  [177 in-lb]

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Connect and tighten the internal engine brake oil supply hose.

Torque Value:  16  n.m  [142 in-lb]

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Connect the solenoid wires to the electrical connectors in the engine brake spacer.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Connect and tighten the external engine brake oil supply hose.

Torque Value:  16  n.m  [142 in-lb]

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
