ISB/ISBe Series Engines – 019-043   Engine Wiring Harness

General Information

TOC

The engine uses two separate wiring harnesses to control the engine and some of the vehicle operations.

  1. 36-pin engine harness connector
  2. OEM harness
  3. 16-pin engine harness connector.
 
SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE

Remove

TOC

Remove the harness clamps from the support bracket of the engine block.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Disconnect the engine harness from the injector pass-through connectors.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Disconnect the engine harness 16-pin connector from the ECM.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Disconnect the engine harness 36-pin connector from the ECM.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Disconnect the electronic fuel control actuator from the engine harness.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Disconnect the engine harness from the following sensors:

  1. Engine speed sensor
  2. Engine position sensor
  3. Engine coolant temperature sensor
  4. Fuel temperature sensor
  5. Fuel rail pressure sensor
  6. Oil pressure/temperature sensor
  7. Intake manifold pressure/temperature sensor.

Inspect for Reuse

Replace or repair the engine harness if there is an open circuit or a short circuit found under the protective covering of the harness body.

Install

Connect the engine harness to the following sensors:

  1. Engine speed sensor
  2. Engine position sensor
  3. Engine coolant temperature sensor
  4. Fuel temperature sensor
  5. Fuel pressure sensor
  6. Oil pressure/temperature sensor
  7. Intake manifold pressure/temperature sensor.

Connect the electronic fuel control actuator connector.

SMALL | MEDIUM | LARGE
   


Connect the engine harness (36-pin connector) to the ECM.

The engine harness connectors and OEM connector have an arm on the connector that will snap down on itself when properly connected to the ECM.

Connect the engine harness to the injector pass-through connectors.

NOTE: The four-cylinder has two injector pass-through connectors and the six-cylinder has three injector pass-through connectors.

Connect the engine harness (16-pin connector) to the ECM.

The engine harness connectors and OEM connector have an arm on the connector that will snap down on itself when properly connected to the ECM.

Install the harness clamps that hold the engine harness to the engine block.
