OEM Pressure – Engine Protection – Speed Derate
|
Overview
CODE | REASON | EFFECT |
Fault Code: 296 PID: P223 SPN: 1387 FMI: 14 LAMP: Red SRT: |
OEM pressure out-of-range has been detected. Voltage signal at the OEM pressure signal pin indicates OEM pressure beyond OEM-specified threshold. |
Calibration-dependent progressive power derate and engine shutdown with increasing time after alert. |
![]() OEM Pressure Sensor Circuit
|
Circuit Description
The OEM pressure sensor is used by the electronic control module (ECM) to monitor the lubricating OEM pressure. The ECM monitors the voltage on the signal pin and converts this to a pressure value. The OEM pressure value is used by the ECM for the engine protection system.
Component Location
The sensor location is dependent on the OEM’s application and installation. Use the OEM troubleshooting and repair manual.
Shop Talk
- Verify, with the driver, the engine speed at which the fault occurs. If the engine is being operated at too low of a speed under load, the OEM pressure can drop below the engine protection limits.
- INSITE™ can be used to monitor the OEM pressure sensor signal voltage going into the ECM.
