Cause Correction

Electronic fault codes active or high counts of inactive fault codes

Refer to Section TF for fault code troubleshooting.

 

Verify the complaint

Refer to the INSITE™ User’s Manual.

 

Electronic control module system is not calibrated or has incorrect calibration

Compare the calibration in the electronic control system with the engine rating and the Control Parts List (CPL), Bulletin 3379133 or 4021327. If necessary, calibrate the system. Refer to Procedure 019-032.

 

Turbocharger wastegate actuator is malfunctioning (if equipped)

Check the turbocharger wastegate actuator for correct operation. Refer to Procedure 010-050 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, C8.3G, C Gas Plus and L Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666206 or Procedure 010-050 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, B5.9LPG, B Gas Plus, and B LPG Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666164.

 

Heated oxygen sensor is damaged or has drifted

Use INSITE™ to check for significantly improved engine performance with the system in open-loop operation. Refer to the INSITE™ User’s Manual Procedure 010-050 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, C8.3G, C Gas Plus and L Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666206 or Procedure 010-050 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, B5.9LPG, B Gas Plus, and B LPG Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666164.

 

High fuel pressure

Use an electronic service tool to monitor fuel pressure primary and secondary. Refer to Procedure 005-047 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, C8.3G, C Gas Plus and L Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666206 or Procedure 005-047 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, B5.9LPG, B Gas Plus, and B LPG Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666164.

 

Exhaust system restriction is not within specification

Check the exhaust system for restrictions. Refer to Procedure 011-009 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, C8.3G, C Gas Plus and L Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666206 or Procedure 011-009 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, B5.9LPG, B Gas Plus, and B LPG Plus Engines, Bulletin 3666164.

 

Voltage to gas mass flow sensor is too low, is interrupted, or is open

Check voltage at OEM connector. Refer to Procedure 019-101.
