Electronic Control System Gas Plus Engines – 019-043   Engine Wiring Harness

Replace a harness if there is an open or short circuit found under the protective covering of the harness body.

Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor from the engine harness.

Disconnect the mixer inlet pressure sensor, the turbocharger control valve, fuel control valve, and the throttle actuator connectors.

Disconnect the intake manifold absolute pressure/temperature sensor and the fuel pressure/temperature sensor connectors.

Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

Disconnect the engine position sensors and the knock sensor connectors.

Disconnect the fuel shutoff valve and primary fuel pressure sensors.

Disconnect the exhaust back pressure sensor and oil pressure/temperature sensor connectors.

Disconnect the humidity and air inlet restriction sensors.

Disconnect the engine harness connectors from the electronic control module (ECM).

Disconnect the engine harness from the ignition control module (ICM).

CAUTION  To reduce the possibility of damaging the harness connector, do not pry or pull on the harness connector lock. Push on the lock to release it.

NOTE: When disconnecting the sensor, check to see that the seal for the sensor pins remains on the sensor and has not lodged in the harness connector. If it has come off with the harness connector, remove it and install it back to the sensor. The harness connector does not have a seal in it. Failure to position the seal correctly could cause the gas mass flow sensor to malfunction.

Disconnect the engine harness from the gas mass flow sensor.

Remove the ground wire from the cylinder block.

Disconnect the 31-pin and 23-pin OEM connectors.

Loosen the locknut and remove the connectors from the bracket.

Disconnect the sensor supply converter connector.

Remove the P-clips that attach the harness to the engine block.

Connect the sensor supply converter connector.

Install the 31-pin and 23-pin connectors into the mounting bracket. Install the locknut and tighten.

Connect the connectors.

Connect the ground wire to the cylinder block.

Connect the gas mass flow sensor connector.

Connect the fuel shutoff valve and primary fuel pressure sensor connectors.

Connect the ignition control module connector.

Connect the engine harness connectors to the electronic control module.

Connect the engine position sensor and the knock sensor connectors.

Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

Connect the exhaust back pressure sensor and oil pressure/temperature sensor connectors.

Connect the intake manifold absolute pressure/temperature sensor connector.

Connect the fuel pressure/temperature sensor connector.

Connect the throttle actuator connector.

Connect the mixer inlet pressure sensor, the wastegate control valve, and the fuel control valve.

Connect the humidity and air inlet restriction sensors.

Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector.

Install the P-clips securing the wiring harness to the block.
