Intake manifold pressure leak is due to actuator leaking.

The engine will idle above 900 rpm.

Electronic Throttle Control Actuator Circuit

The electronic control module (ECM) controls the electronic throttle control actuator; it is both an input and output device.

The electronic throttle control actuator is located after the fuel housing and before the intake manifold inlet.

The electronic throttle control actuator used for the Plus technology is pulse-width modulated and is compatible with only the Gas Plus engines.

STEPS		SPECIFICATIONS
STEP 1.	Check the fault codes.
	STEP 1A. Check for multiple fault codes.	Fault Code 2189 inactive?
STEP 2.	Check the engine idle speed.
	STEP 2A. Check the engine idle speed using INSITE™ electronic service tool.	Engine idle speed greater than 900 rpm?
STEP 3.	Clear the fault codes.
	STEP 3A. Disable the fault code.	Fault Code 2227 inactive?
	STEP 3B. Clear the inactive fault codes.	All fault codes cleared?

Guided Step 1 – Check the fault codes.

Guided Step 1A – Check for multiple fault codes.
Conditions Turn keyswitch ON Connect the INSITE™ electronic service tool. Action Check for multiple fault codes.
Fault Code 2189 inactive?
YES	NO
Troubleshoot Fault Code 2189 first.	No Repair
Fault Code 2189	Go to 2A

Guided Step 2A – Check the engine idle speed using INSITE™ electronic service tool.
Conditions Turn keyswitch ON. Action Use INSITE™ electronic service tool to read the engine idle speed.
Engine idle speed greater than 900 rpm?
YES	NO
Check the throttle actuator for leakage and leaking intake manifold around sealing orifices.	No Repair
Go to 3A	Go to 3A

Guided Step 3A – Disable the fault code.
Conditions Connect all components Turn keyswitch ON. Action Start the engine and let it idle for one minute. Verify that Fault Code 2227 is inactive.
Fault Code 2227 inactive?
YES	NO
No Repair	Troubleshooting procedures need to be repeated from the beginning.
Go to 3B	Go to 1A

Guided Step 3B – Clear the inactive fault codes.
Conditions Connect all components. Turn keyswitch ON. Action Use INSITE™ electronic service tool to erase the inactive fault codes .
All fault codes cleared?
YES	NO
No Repair	Troubleshoot any remaining active fault codes.
Repair complete	Appropriate troubleshooting charts
