Fuel Pressure Sensor Circuit |
![]() |
Circuit Description
The electronic control module (ECM) uses this sensor to monitor the primary fuel pressure into the engine.
Component Location
The fuel pressure sensor is located in the low-pressure regulator housing.
Shop Talk
The fuel pressure sensor is used to detect the high-pressure fuel supplied to the engine from the OEM pressure regulator. The engine protection shutdown for fuel pressure is a customer feature and will only be enabled at the customer’s request. This sensor will deactivate or disable the fuel control valve if this feature is utilized by the OEM.
Troubleshooting Steps
| STEPS | SPECIFICATIONS | |
|---|---|---|
| STEP 1. | Check the fuel pressure. | |
| STEP 1A. Check the fuel pressure. | Is pressure less than maximum value for the engine family? | |
| STEP 2. | Check the primary fuel inlet pressure sensor. | |
| STEP 2A. Inspect the primary fuel pressure sensor and engine harness connector pins. | Dirty or damaged pins? | |
| STEP 2B. Verify the fuel pressure sensor reading. | Fuel pressure measurements within 5 percent? | |
| STEP 3. | Clear the fault codes. | |
| STEP 3A. Disable the fault code. | Fault Code 2228 inactive? | |
| STEP 3B. Clear the inactive fault codes. | All fault codes cleared? | |
