 WARNING 

Wear appropriate eye and face protection when using compressed air. Flying debris and dirt can cause personal injury.
 WARNING 

Air pressure must be released from the system before removing the turbocharger control shutoff valve. The turbocharger control shutoff valve is under pressure and can cause personal injury.

Reduce the pressure in the compressed air system before removing the solenoid. Refer to Procedure 010-115 in the Signature,ISX,QSX15 Base Engine Troubleshooting and Repair Manual, Bulletin 3666239.

Disconnect the wiring harness.

Remove the turbocharger control shutoff valve solenoid from the filter head.

Inspect for Reuse

Inspect the three o-rings on the solenoid for damage. Replace as necessary.

Inspect the turbocharger control shutoff valve for damage.

Check the resistance of the turbocharger control shutoff valve solenoid. The resistance must be between 4 and 8 ohms.

Install

TOC

Install the turbocharger control shutoff solenoid on the filter head. Torque the capscrews.

Torque Value:  3  n.m  [27 in-lb]

Connect the wiring harness.

Start the engine and allow the air system to fully charge. With the engine running, verify proper operation of the turbocharger.

With the key in the OFF position, check for a properly functioning air shutoff valve. Use soapy water to check the air shutoff valve for air leaks around the bottom of the air shutoff solenoid.

If leaks are found, remove the air shutoff valve and inspect the o-rings for damage.

Check for fault codes using INSITE™.
