The 6.5L EFIV8 diesel engine has a seven-character identification code stamped on the upper surface of the cylinder case near the #1 cylinder intake manifold runner (figure 1 -2). The stamping contains a broadcast code that describes the engine configuration of the vehicle and a digital code that describes vehicle manufacturing information.
The fuel injection pump also has an identification code. It is contained on a metal plate riveted to the back end of its housing. The model and serial numbers are stamped on the plate (figure 1-2).
