B5.9G, B5.9LPG – Troubleshooting and Repair Manual – 003-001   Crankcase Breather (External)

• Remove the Air Compressor (if applicable). Refer to 012-014.
• Remove the Fuel Control Housing. Refer to 005-009.
• Remove the Ignition Control Module. Refer to Procedure 019-105 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual Fuel System and Electronics B5.9G, C8.3G L10-III, Bulletin 3666118, or Procedure 019-105 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual Electronic Control System Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 4021317.
• Remove the Electronic Control Module. Refer to Procedure 019-031 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual Fuel System and Electronics B5.9G, C8.3G L10-III, Bulletin 3666118, or Procedure 019-031 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual Electronic Control System Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 4021317.
• Remove the Evaporator (if applicable). Refer to Procedure 005-094.
• Remove the Low Pressure Regulator. Refer to Procedure 005-047.
• Remove the Ignition Control Module bracket. Refer to Procedure 013-044.
• Remove the Crankcase Breather Tube or Closed Crankcase Ventilation Hose as necessary. Refer to Procedure 003-018 or 003-021.

Remove the capscrews, crankcase breather and gasket.

WARNING  Wear appropriate eye and face protection when using compressed air. Flying debris and dirt can cause bodily injury.

Inspect the crankcase breather and hose internally for obstructions or sludge build up.

If the crankcase breather or tube is blocked, they must be cleaned with a strong solution of detergent or replaced to prevent excess crankcase pressure.

Dry the crankcase breather and tube with compressed air.

Inspect the crankcase breather gasket. If it is not damaged it can be used again. If damage is found, install a new gasket.

Install the crankcase breather gasket. The gasket must be install as shown in the illustration.

Install the crankcase breather, capscrews and rubber seals.

• Install the Crankcase Breather Tube or Closed Crankcase Ventilation Hose as necessary. Refer to Procedure 003-018 or 003-021.
• Install the Ignition Control Module bracket. Refer to Procedure 013-044.
• Install the Electronic Control Module. Refer to Procedure 019-031 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual Fuel System and Electronics B5.9G, C8.3G L10-III, Bulletin 3666118, or Procedure 019-031 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual Electronic Control System Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 4021317.
• Install the Ignition Control Module. Refer to Procedure 019-105 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual Fuel System and Electronics B5.9G, C8.3G L10-III, Bulletin 3666118, or Procedure 019-105 in the Troubleshooting and Repair Manual Electronic Control System Gas Plus Engines, Bulletin 4021317.
• Install the Evaporator (if applicable). Refer to Procedure 005-094.
• Install the Low Pressure Regulator. Refer to Procedure 005-047.
• Install the Fuel Control Housing. Refer to 005-009.
• Install the Air Compressor (if applicable). Refer to 012-014.
